Acupuncture, Cromwell Physiotherapy, Cromwell, Central Otago

Acupuncture is a technique, where by, fine needles are inserted at specific points along the meridians to stimulate, disperse and balance the flow of energy, relieve pain, and treat a variety of chronic, acute and degenerative conditions.

The acupuncture needle is extremely fine and is often hardly felt when inserted.  There may be a deep dull aching around the needle when it is stimulated Acupuncture is safe and natural but it is important, however, that you tell your physiotherapist, prior to treatment, about any medical conditions including haemophilia, hepatitis, HIV status or if you are pregnant.  Registered Acupuncturists are registered with the Blood Transfusion Service. Both Sarah and Ellen are registered acupuncturists.

Trigger Point Needling
This is another type of acupuncture, where by, a needle is inserted into a trigger point, causing a twitch response as the tip of the needle locates the TP.  This facilitates relaxation of the muscle.
